Trading & Responding

The electricity markets liberalization has opened new opportunities for large consumers such as commercial building's to play an active role on these markets and thereby enable a significant reduction of their power purchasing costs. eQualtiq Rewards for example, takes advantage of being able to control the building's HVAC system to participate on utility demand response programs, where the building's facility manager accepts to reduce its load (by shutting down relevant energy consuming equipments) a given number of times per year for a certain amount of time, thus receiving monetary rewards for providing this service. Moreover, it is possible for the building to engage in a dynamic day-ahead whole-sale market contract- eQualtiq Trades does so by providing the building's forecasted energy demand and enabling the energy retailer to bid offers at a lower price, a service that is rewarded with a decrease in the customer's cost per kWh.
